As the Reels Turn # 2: ‘The Gamble’ is the second instalment of the popular As the Reels Turn i-Slots franchise. Practically the same as the first game (in essence) aside from some new characters, differing bonus games and an altogether new set of scenes to continue the gripping struggle between Matt Gray and Don Vincenzo over control of the El Paradiso casino and hotel, you will notice the game works exactly the same as, As the Reels Turn Part 1. Aside from the gripping extras, a 5 reel 15 line slot machine is still at stake, and a top line award of a 1,000x multiplier (where up to 5 coins can be placed upon each line valued between 0.01 and 0.25 each) can be a wonderful prize before you consider all the bonuses on offer.

As the Reels Turn # 2: ‘The Gamble’ Slot Review

What is clear about this instalment of the game is that none of the original (Part 1) features have changed other than the new scenes, a couple of regular icons and one bonus game in particular. We continue with the story (*spoiler alert*) where the general manager Matt Gray of El Paradiso is coming under threat from the local Mafia Don to try and oust his directorship and bring the business ‘back to the family’.

Unfortunately for the likes of The Don, Matt G and Chrissy, these regular icons have been displaced by the characters Jamie, Rex and Vanessa yet still have the same prizes attributed to them if you create winning combinations with them from your spins. The fabulous and entertaining Tommy Wong has also been exchanged for Danny and whereas Tommy could only create scatter wins from 3 or more symbols being spread upon the reels, Danny is a bit more liberal and can create prizes from 2 or more scatter across the reels. Keep in mind the cash stacks and the El Paradiso symbols are still the top award droppers. Ivan now only creates prizes from 3 matched symbols upwards too.

Those familiar with the first episode will stroll right on ahead with ease for this second part. However regardless of whether you are new to slots, or experienced pro, As the Reels Turn is an unquestionable delightful treat of an i-Slot to grace ours screens.

Scatter Symbol

Just as in part 1, As the Reels Turn part 2 contains a wonderful four differing scatter icons. Firstly the standard bonus icon acts exactly the same as in the original version; Spin 3, 4 or 5 across the reels in any position to give yourself prizes of your total wager multiplied by 1, 2 or 50 times respectively. Show three or more and you will be able to play the familiar ‘Counterfeit Chip’ bonus round to hopefully trigger further wins.

The second scatter icon is of Danny who has replaced the previously popular character of Tommy Wong. Reveal 2, 3, 4 or 5 of him scatter across the reels to grant you prizes of your full wagered bet by 1, 1, 2 or 50 times.

Ivan, the General Manager’s pet piranha is back doing what he does best… winning you prizes! Reveal 3, 4 or 5 across the reels to multiply your total bet by 1, 2 or 50 times respectively to create your prize and send you off to play with some free-spins.

The final scatter in the game is the ‘Advance to Next Scene’ symbol. Just like in part 1, you don’t necessarily win a prize, but three or more of the icon across the reels will let you see the next chapter within the story line. Pay attention to the game map for your progress along the story. After you get past certain stages in the story, you can trigger further bonus games depending on how far through the narrative you are. (*Spoiler Alert*) In some cases you will be greeted with a game mid-scene that provides further interaction between you and the game.

Ivan again can win you the free spins on offer. If you spin three or more you can win back multiplies of your full wager AND you will be given ten free-spins with a triple multiplier to make your winnings that extra bit special!

Bonus Round

There are a few bonus games within the As the Reels Turn i-Slots series. The one bonus round is the re-used ‘Counterfeit Bonus’ which is triggered through the regular bonus symbol trigger. Once again you have to help Matt Gray differentiate the casino chips compared their counterfeits you are on course for some reasonable prizes.

Seeing as Tommy Wong has ‘left the building’ (those familiar to the first game will get the joke!) we now have Danny and his icon that will trigger his ‘Find Danny’ bonus round. You have to take control of the floor-manager, Rex who is on the hunt for the hiding Danny. You have to click the places you think he is hiding and hope not to find Jamie in the process. The more places that you click and find Danny’s face, the better your prizes will be.

Again don’t forget you have the continuation of the story line to keep viewing. Every time you expose three or more of the ‘Advance to next Scene’ symbol, you can see a new scene from the storyline. The ‘Game Map’ located on the top right of the interface is there so you can see your progress within the narrative and which future scenes have attached bonus games that you play as you watch them.

(*Spoiler Alert*) In one scene in particular of As the Reels Turn Part 2, you have to try and pick out which of the Don’s twin henchmen is called ‘Val’ rather than ‘Sal’. Needless to say, the scene that leads up to this mini-bonus is quite hilarious!
